背景：我创建这篇文章是为了在我主持的课程开始前分享，作为对近期事件的复习，同时也作为一个引子，吸引学生尽早接触我们在 AI 安全领域思考的一些观点。我预计我在“Setting the Scene”帖子中涵盖的主题会经常变化，所以这篇文章不如我的其他一些内容精炼。
我向学生强调，这些帖子应被视为附加内容——而非核心课程内容——因此它们实际上只是为那些想在课程前后深入学习的同学准备的。我还提供了大量链接；这样便于学生跟进任何他们感兴趣的内容。任何关于如何改进这些帖子的反馈都将不胜感激。

Context: I created this to share before the start of courses I facilitate to provide a refresher on recent events, but also as a hook to draw students into engaging with some of ideas we think about in AI safety early.
I expect the topics I cover in my “Setting the Scene” post to change frequently, so this is less polished than some of my other content.
I emphasise to students that these posts are to be considered as bonus content —not core curriculum content—and that as such they are really just there for students who want to go deeper, before or after the course.
I also provide a lot of links; this is to make it easy for students to follow up anything that catches their interest. Any feedback on how to improve these posts would be greatly appreciated.
